Description
Thattai Murukku – These crunchy rice crackers / Thattu vadai is a South Indian deep fried snack made with rice flour and commonly prepared during Sri Krishna Jayanthi festival. This preparation has a salted and spiced version.
It is known as “Nippattu” in Karnataka and “Chekkalu” in Andhra/Telungana.
For a perfect crunchy Thattai,the traditional method is to rinse the rice well,drained and dried it out.Then milled to flour as the fresh ground flour enhances the aroma and texture of these snacks.
Then the dough of rice flour along with spices are rolled out to discs and they are deep fried. A sure favourite snack among kids and adults alike,Thattai stays an eternal favourite.
Ingredients : Rice flour, Urad Dal flour, Fried gram flour, Channa Dal, Redchilli powder, Butter, Asafoetida, Salt, Curry leaves, Butter and Vegetable oil.
